About the Camp

Camp Balboa is nestled in the northwest corner of the beautiful Balboa Park, covering approximately 15 1/2 acres. It's just a short walk from the world-famous San Diego Zoo and the park's many attractions. The camp is available year-round for all levels of scouting, from Tiger Cubs to adult leader training.

Behind the Council Service Center, you'll find ten campsites, accommodating up to 300 campers. Each campsite is equipped with a campfire ring, flagpole, and picnic tables. The camp also features a patio/picnic area with brick barbecues, and an amphitheater for campfire programs under the beautiful San Diego sky. A projector can be reserved for nighttime movies.

Whether you're a first-time camper or a seasoned veteran, Camp Balboa offers exciting outdoor adventures in a convenient central location.

Family Program

Family Camp at Camp Balboa, located in in the heart of San Diego at our Council office offers numerous fun and exciting activities for people of all ages. Archery and BB gun are great for everybody. Enjoy swimming in our beautiful pool, shooting water rockets, GPS, or just taking a hike through Balboa Park. Don't forget to stop by the craft and game areas. Listen to the animals across the wire at the zoo. It's an urban camping experience and highly recommended for novice campers.

Like most national, state, or private campgrounds, you will be sleeping in your own tents. ALL sites are assigned when you arrive at camp and grouped by unit.
